Delays caused by unforeseen problems, like traffic or breakdowns are inevitable in the business of auto transporting. As such, car carriers are rarely able to provide specific pick-up and delivery times; most of the dates given are their best approximation. Naturally, patience and earlier preparation are essential to ensure both you and your transporter have a positive experience.
Once you have agreed on a car carriers service, clarify their terms of payment. Most car transport companies require clients to place a 10-25 percent deposit before shipping. It’s best that any advance is paid with a credit card, in case charges were disputed later.
Before handing over your car to a transporter, make a complete inspection of your vehicle. Note any dents, scratches, or other cosmetic damage, and take pictures from several angles. When your driver arrives, insist that your car is inspected for pre-existing damages by both parties; verify that the transporter makes an official note in addition to your personal records. Ask your driver if you have any last minute inquiries about the shipping process, then confirm the terms of your contract and make sure your driver has your correct contact information. Before you car is loaded on the trailer, note the odometer reading; there should be no major mileage discrepancies when the car is delivered as your car will be driven just a little during loading and storing.
Upon delivery, inspect your car thoroughly for damages. Although the driver or a representative of the car carriers company will inspect the vehicle and note any new damage, it’s more important that you or an authorized agent be there to verify the outcome of the inspection. In addition to checking for cosmetic damages, check the odometer, and start up the car to check for mechanical problems.
Any remaining balance of payment will be due upon delivery, usually payable in cash or cashier’s check. In the unlikely event that your car was delivered with new damages, follow your carrier’s instructions to file a claim. Make sure your records of damages were signed by the driver or company’s agent and try to file with your insurance within 24 hours.
For most carriers, once the car is delivered the shipping process is completed. Offer to act as a reference for potential customers if you have had a particularly positive experience with your transport company.

I can still remember the date. May 4th 2003. Yes, that's right, it was my senior prom, and all I was excited about was our stretch hummer limo that was my magical carriage ride for the evening. It was a dream come true. So, it only makes sense that kids going to prom in 2008 would be excited about riding in a fly, almost Jetson-like hovercraft that can park itself right? But alas, in small towns like Marcellus, NY, it seems as if times have reversed by 50 years. My cousin, James, just attended his senior prom in a classic car, which is no surprise since his family works on them, but what about the number of other classmates whose parents chauffeured them around in their classic Chevy's and Ford's and Caminos. It was a site to be seen all right, but it also brings up a great question: Does the "look" of a car have an effect on who buys it? Take, for instance, the case of a teenage daughter and her father my sister saw in the Toyota dealership. Daddy's little girl first looked at the Corolla and decided it wasn't "pretty" enough so they moved on to the hybrid. And that was the winner, despite the elaborate price tag because of its stylish look. Now, let's jump a generation and talk about my uncle who is 65 years old. His brand new HHR is miles more attractive and leagues "prettier" than my poor little Corolla Sport. But wait, I thought I was the one who was supposed to look cool? I've come to the conclusion that cars are like high school clicks. Some like them green, some like them flashy, and some like them classic. So, it's up to you. Which click do you belong to?

An automobile self-starter (commonly "starter motor" or simply "starter") is an electric motor that initiates piston motion in a car's internal combustion engine before it can power itself.
The modern starter motor is either a permanent-magnet or a series- or series-parallel wound direct current electric motor with a solenoid switch (similar to a relay) mounted on it. When current from the starting battery is applied to the solenoid, usually through a key-operated switch, it pushes out the drive pinion on the starter driveshaft and meshes the pinion with the ring gear on the flywheel of the engine.

Automobile operation requires extensive, complicated wiring that can be prone to failure under extreme conditions such as accidents. Generally speaking, auto technicians see electrical problems as quite complicated and hard to analyze in spite of having modern computer-controlled diagnostic equipment at their disposal.
Of considerable challenge are those electrical faults that arise from accidents, particularly those of a puncture nature where an object disables engine compartment conductor bundles. Many hours of technician time are needed to sort out, and reconnect in the proper sequence, the myriad of wire bundles that are found in modern day vehicles. Finding expert mechanics who are able to diagnose and repair these kinds of issues, can sometimes be challenging. |
